2025 Grand Prairie Special Election

Mayor Ron Jensen was comfortably re-elected to his fifth three-year term as mayor, gaining 88% of the vote over Rabbi L. DeLeslie.

All three Prop votes passed affirmatively, to reauthorize an existing tax towards for another eight years of maintenance and repair of city streets; the forming of a Deputy Mayor Pro Tem position to the roster of city council titles; and revisions related to the city Charter that conflict with state and federal laws.

Emily Liles successfully won a third term as District 6’s representative on the Grand Prairie ISD board of trustees. She took 37.1% of the vote over challengers Stacey D. Brown (28.8%), Veronica M. Lopez (27.2%), and Patty Harris (6.9%).

Amber Moffitt ran unopposed and will again represent GPISD Place 7 (At-Large).

Lakewood’s voting precinct (Dallas County precinct 4522-02) had 3,391 registered voters for this election with only 221 turning out to vote, one of the lowest in all of Grand Prairie. Just 216 voted for school board Place 6, 172 voted for At-Large Place 7, Here’s how 4522-02 voted for school board Place 6 in comparison with other precincts in our District.

2024 General Election

Lakewood’s Dallas County voting precinct 4522-02 had 3,512 registered voters for the 2024 General Election. 2,115 of those showed up to the polls, a voter turnout of 60.22%, the lowest in the last four General Elections.

We actually had 339 more registered voters in 2024 than in 2020 (3,176), yet had 5 fewer voters actually show up to vote.

From this precinct, 1,688 voted early (79.8%) from October 21 to November 1 or by mail; 427 voted on Election Day (20.2%) November 5.

In the 2020 General Election, 1,904 (90%) of the 2,120 ballots cast in Pct. 4522 were early votes, just 216 voted on Election Day.

In the 2024 Presidential race, the Democrat ticket led Precinct 4522 by double digits for a fourth straight election. However, the Harris/Walz ticket’s margin of 15.7% over the Republican’s Trump/Vance is the narrowest in the last four elections, and down from a 25.3% margin in the 2020 Biden/Harris win over Trump/Pence.

The 872 total votes for Trump/Vance is the most Republican votes cast in this precinct since the Lakewood neighborhood was developed in 2005-06.

Overall in Grand Prairie, encompassing precincts from three counties, Harris/Walz took 40,906 votes (59.1%) and Trump/Vance 27,286 votes (39.4%). Grand Prairie as a whole had 119,395 registered voters in 2024, of which 69,273 voted in the General Election, a 58.02% turnout. That’s a significant drop from 64.3% in 2020.

In Dallas County, Harris/Walz won a 59.89% majority (511,027 votes) to Trump/Vance’s 37.79% (322,468 votes). The county’s turnout was 58.41% of 1,469,952 registered voters.

For U.S. Senate, 2,045 cast a ballot from this precinct with 1,252 (60.5%) siding with Democrat Colin Allred against overall winner, Republican incumbent Ted Cruz, with 765 votes (36.9%).

Only 1,771 from this Precinct cast a vote for our U.S. Congress representative (TX-30), 50.4% of registered voters. Incumbent Democrat Jasmine Crockett took 77.6% of this precinct’s vote, while also winning the overall race in Dallas County over Libertarian candidate Jrmar “JJ” Jefferson. In the last 7 elections for this seat, going back to 2012 and former congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson holding the same seat, it was the third time the election was unopposed by a Republican.

Lakewood votes in Dallas County Elections Precinct 4522.  From our western boundary along Matthew Road, we are a half-mile from the Tarrant/Dallas County line. The Maverick Rd. entrance from Camp Wisdom Rd. into the Lake Parks is basically on the exact county line running north and south.

Lakewood shares Precinct 4522 with about 8 blocks of the Trailwood neighborhood northward to Coffeyville Trail between Matthew Rd. and Robinson Rd. Westward the precinct includes the Matthew Road Mobile Home Estates behind Moseley Elementary and a portion of the Lake Parks community south of Camp Wisdom Rd. and up to the Tarrant County line. Southward the precinct includes the Reveal Lake Ridge Apartments at England Pkwy. and Lake Ridge Pkwy; plus small slivers along the Dallas County line of Grenadier Villas at Mira Lagos and Grenadier Townhomes at Mira Lagos along Lake Ridge Pkwy.

Whatever it says about us as a community, Precinct 4522 has, generally, had one of the better voter turnouts among Grand Prairie precincts for the General election for national offices, while also possessing one of the worst in the city for local elections.

In the 2024 contest for City Council, District 6 (Lakewood’s district) there were 3,432 registered voters in Precinct 4522-02, of which just 245 showed up to vote. That’s a voter turnout of 7.10%, the second worst turnout of the 13 precincts in Dallas, Tarrant and Ellis Counties which comprise the District.

Overall, Grand Prairie District 6 was comprised of 23,001 registered voters from the 13 total precincts in Dallas, Tarrant and Ellis counties in this May, 2024 election. Just 2,336 cast a ballot for a voter turnout of 10.16%.


In the 2024 Primaries for United States President, Pct. 4522-02 with 4,277 registered voters, 584 ballots cast (13.7% turnout). The results:

In 2021, in the contest for Place 6, there were 3,682 registered voters in Pct. 4522 of District 6 with 130 casting a ballot for a turnout of 3.5%. Note that the district boundaries for District 6 in 2021 were redrawn after this election and the map below is the current district boundaries.

In the May, 2022 election for school board Place 6, Pct. 4255 had 3,334 registered voters with 201 casting a ballot, a turnout of 6.0%. The highest reporting precinct in Grand Prairie had an 18.2% turnout.
