Trash Days: Mondays & Thursdays
Recycle Days: Wednesdays. Green recycling bins from the City can be acquired for free at the city landfill at 1102 MacArthur Blvd., Grand Prairie, TX 75050. Your first is free, but additional bins can be purchased for $5 apiece. Click here for a list of what the city will and won’t accept for recycling.
Brush Pick-up: 4th Monday of the month. Once a month the city will pick up tree limbs and brush that are not bagged or bundled. Must be curbside, no limbs larger than 10 inches in diameter, no longer than 5 feet in length, and a pile “no larger than a VW Beetle”.

The Lakewood HOA has an annual business meeting in late Fall to review neighborhood financials and also to elect board members to serve for one year. Check the Community Calendar for date, time and place. In the meantime, we invite you to reach out to the Board to be a part of our Architectural Control Committee or any other organizational committee you want to help lead.

We cannot monitor every corner of the internet or social media, so where it may feel good to take your gripes and concerns public, what’s most helpful is to reach out to the people who can directly address and work to rectify your concerns.
Twice a year Lakewood will host a Community Garage Sale, which provides a collective advertising effort to help attract thrifty shoppers to all of our neighborhood. This happens annually on the first Saturday of May and October. To participate and host a garage sale you’ll still need a permit from the city. Go here for that.
Fishing is permitted in our community pond by residents. Please catch and release. The pond is stocked with Largemouth bass, yellow bass, channel catfish, green sunfish, and other species. Our pond attracts ducks and migratory birds such as egrets and Great Blue Heron.
Around the neighborhood, be aware of such wild critters that inhabit the very nearby lake like foxes, raccoons, opossums, skunks, and coyotes. Leave them alone and they won’t bother you. This is their home, too.
For local and national elections, Lakewood resides entirely in Dallas County and residents should be registered to vote accordingly. Click here to be registered in Dallas County. Early voting normally takes place at the Betty Warmack Library on Robinson Rd. & Bardin Rd. On election day, Lakewood residents can vote at any voting center in Dallas County. Usually, the closest nearby are at Truman Middle School, Reagan Middle School, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church on Carrier Pkwy. & Polo Rd., and the Womack Library.

There are certain circumstances where we need you to help us be responsible neighbors, such as when there’s a dead animal in the road or a street light is out. The city, nor the HOA, is responsible for patrolling the streets to find and rectify these inconveniences at all hours, so your help is appreciated. On your mobile device search for the app “My GPTX,” where you can then report a street light outage or deceased animal or pothole issue and the city is normally fairly prompt about addressing these issues (Oncor is responsible for changing street lights). They’ll do the heavy and yucky lifting, but we all have to help get the word out.
